Development Manager (Shopfloor)

The Role:
 
The post-holder will lead manufacturing activities within the new product development area, ensuring workmanship is carried out to required standards, budgets are met and prototype timelines achieved.    They will also ensure training needs are met, Health & Safety standards are achieved and manage the development team effectively to meet business needs.
  • Manage prototype build program along with associated development resource
  • Conduct safety audits/housekeeping inspections and complete any accident investigations
  • Implement ‘5S’ principles to maximise efficiency and effectiveness of production facility
  • Plan and utilise labour effectively ensuring operational quality, velocity and costs are on target
  • Investigate defects and ensure corrective actions implemented to prevent reoccurrence
  • Promote and support continuous improvement projects – liaising closely with development management to highlight areas for improvement
 
The Person:
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role within an engineering/manufacturing environment
  • Ideally hold either a management qualification or a Level 3 qualification in engineering
  • Previous experience of managing/supervising teams
  • Ability to manage processes, resources and costs
  • Experience of CI processes
  • Working knowledge of Quality Systems and Health & Safety compliance within a manufacturing environment
